Over the weekend I got a shitload of questions about being a fashionable Mother. 

Do I dress over the top when I volunteer at school? Does my son like it? What do the other parents think? Does it freak out the other kids/his friends? (The questions were way harsh, I had to rephrase them for you.)

Ummm duh and DUH!! This is how I dress when I'm doing regular Mom stuff...grocery shopping, washing the car, PTA meetings, the park, whateves! This is as "toned down" as Mama's gonna get boo!

Of course my son loves it...he thinks I'm the coolest blogger Mom on the planet, Janet! I don't think he would want it any other way.

As for the other parents, hahaha what they have to say about me falls on deaf ears cause I don't

And the children love me...all the little girls think I'm effin cool and always ask me to bring them something from my vintage collection. I actually gave them all heart sunnies for Xmas. 

The way I dress has nothing to do with me as a parent. Looking at me you would think I'm all fun and games when it comes to my son but homie don't play that! I'm strict as FUUUUUCK! And I'm raising my son old school when it comes to morals and self respect. Yes ma'am, no ma'am, please and thank you were Ephraim's first words! 

I strive to be nothing but the best for him and I'm a stay at home so I can be there for him whenever he needs me. I'm writing this with tears in my eyes cause NO ONE insults me as a parent...you got that!! My son is my life!

Who's ready for 2012??  Me me me meeeeeeeee! Like 2011 was an insane year for VintageVirgin and seems to have went by so fast. I just want to THANK YOU guys for all the love and support you have given me throughout the year! We all know bloggers ain't shit without their readers, lol! So tonight raise a glass for your favorite bitch VV and salute to bigger and better things to come. Cause in 2012...it's about to go down! SLUT DROP...

Anywho, the pic above is a candid shot from a little side project I'm working on with Ashley from Hipporacle. Who's this awesome jewelry maker/photographer/musician with pink hair and just as loud as me! 

Now I don't usually work with anyone from Houston since it seems everyone is all show and no work. A whole shitload of I can do this and I can do that but they just end up coming to your house and do absolutely nothing but talk about their lame nights out and how much they hate their life/co-workers as they rumble through your closet!

But Ashley was totally different. Once she jumped into the car, you can see the sparks flying off us. It was probably the best time I've ever had on a shoot! So there will be more pics to come and hopefully more shoots too. I have another side I want to show you but it's a wee bit hard to do alone...with a tripod. Fingers crossed girrrl!

Haha you know me I'm all about the ass and thighs...so I'm throwing it all up in ya face on this post, lol!!

Anywho, who's excited about Christmas?? Me me me!! I've already opened some of my gifts since I'm one impatient bastard. Sorry but you can't just have boxes with my name on it sitting around for too long, I'm going to wanna open that shit! And I did, hehe.

I got a new tripod, of course since Trip died on me, but there was this one big box, that strike me as odd since I didn't ask for anything big this year. I was squirming and asking the usual, "What's in there?"

Joel finally folded yesterday and gave me this sweet speech about how much he loves me, supports my blogging and just so proud of me in general. I was like, uh huh uh huh and thinking what the fuck is in that box!

I opened it and literally sound like one of those people you see spazzin out on a youTube video, crying about their new iPad or some shit like that! 

OMG he got me a studio lighting kit with all the bells and whistles!! You know the fancy smancy shit you see on a real photoshoot?  (The umbrella lights, softboxes and camera remote.) I've been whining about the weather and how it's too cold for outside shots but also too dark for inside ones. I just can't believe he listened! 

Man dude Joel is really hookin' my ass up this year!! Love ya boo!

Used them for this post, btw...LOVE THEM!! The lighting is insane, my sitting room is completely dark and it lit that bitch up like BAM! It's just so natural looking. Ugh I can't wait to play around with it more. You know what this means?? MORE POST, FUCK YEEEEAAAAAH!

So I started taking pics earlier in the day but it was way too fucking hot to be outside in 100 degrees weather with a goddamn nylon overcoat on. I was sweating so hard it looked like my body was crying tears!!  I decided wrap it up and finish things later that night. I loved the orange grainy effect the street lights gave off. The hardest part was trying to capture my skin tone in the dark light. Yes you can't see black people in the dark, lol! I'm definitely going to work on doing more night shots! It was quiet, peaceful and most of all NO LOOKY LOOS! It's okay to watch me take pics but it's crossing the line when you're in my personal space talking to me. I'M WORKING HERE, FUUUUUUUCK!

My week has been going AWESOME and I should have some items up in the store today. I'm little rusty since I left my measurements on my desk at the studio which should be okay for most items. Since it's all oversized shit. I'll have it fixed on Monday, wonk wonk!

So you know me, I'm a whore to the romper. I've been it's bitch for YEARS!! So when I got this one from Urban 1972, the planets aligned and I'm pretty sure Jesus walked the earth that day cause a floral corset ruffle romper is what I've been waiting for! I don't know where you've been all my life but I'm glad you found me, hehe.

I don't know how to say it other than it's F-ING FREEZING outside!! The cold weather makes my bones hurt. Last week it was borderline pool time now it time to throw on your good coat, brrrrrrrrrrr! Living in TX you're half naked till December so it's always a shocker when the winter weather sticks around for weeks at a time. So I'm going to jump the gun by saying (in my most whiney baby voice) "I'm ready for Spring!"

 Thank you sooooo much for showing me love!! Sometimes I feel like I'm the most nonchalant blogger around, like I just don't care. I'm just really really humble to all this craziness! I'm just not one to brag but I am truly thankful and happy with my chose to start a blog in the first place. It has become my personal outlet for talking about clothes/life when no one's listening. You guys really are my smile on a sad day!! Can you believe my 1 yr Anniversary is coming up??? WOAH....

Shoe Porn: DIY STYLE

MY INSPIRATION

So everyone knows that the MUST HAVE shoes this year comes with alot of HEIGHT! And everybody's made a knockoff off of a knockoff. I decided to try and make my own. Keyword: TRY, hahaha!

 First I have to say if it wasn't for Christine of Christeric and her awesome Bondo idea I would have never known you can make your own platforms using vintage stripper shoes and shit from the hardware store! So THAAAAANK YOOOOOOU  Christine! To see the process on her blog click here.

DIY 1: I just cut out the toe of these Eddie Munster clunkers, added studs to cover up the ugly parts and attached the t-strap with studs also. Pretty easy!

DIY 2: I used an old pair of 90s stripper boots and just cut off the top, Bondo heels to make them chunky, sand them down by hand, spray paint with the kind used on plastics, sprayed over a matte finish which I FUCKED UP and had to sand down. I personally think it gives it a grunge worn in feel!! Add a faux wood cover you use in drawers. This process took FOREVER!! If you're in a rush I wouldn't recommend.

 DIY 3: I used another old pair of 90s stripper maryjanes. I've been OBSESSED with the F21 Miu Miu knockoffs sice I first laid eyes on them. Like I was pissed I didn't get the memo that these shoes exist! I found the perfect faux pony hair leopard fabric to cover them with. This takes times and dedication ladies! First I Bondo the heels for the right thickness, sand down by hand, cut off straps, used fabric glue to attach fabric to shoes and reattach straps higher up!

I wish I had before and after of them but I didn't have a camera at the moment. But I do have the B&A of the leopard maryjanes. So I'll try and share that with you at a later date. Can't wait to match my DIYs with my vintage!

DIYed vintage cutout studded shoulder chambray shirtdress, vintage DIYed studded stacked platforms, Lime Crime lipstick in My Beautiful Rocket, vintage clock purse, vintage crosse necklace/bangles, black scrunchy socks, DIY headwrap , 80s Purple wayfarers and B.E rings

I made this shirt awhile back and you may have seen it before in a previous post. Basically I just cut out the shoulders and replace the frayed edges with studs. To keep the look hard I added my studded MONSTER platforms. And for that Virgin flare, headwrap and clock purse! 

Brooke and I are huge fans of  Lime Crime so it was a shitload of fun to work with Doe/Lime Crime! Brooke made the dumpster art overnight which you can check out the process on her blog, here! Overall I LOOOOVE IT! Thanks Brookie!!

Now for some BAD NEWS! I have been having soooo much technical difficulties with my blog lately!  I know for a fact now that computers secretly HATE me! If it's not one thing it's another! So in order to keep my sanity I'm taking 2 weeks off from blogging! I could have bored you to death with pictures of other people or from magazine but that just ain't me! What's a personal style blog without personal style??? It sucks having to see all your hard work go to shit! Cause I know I could be easily forgotten if I don't post on a daily. Blogging is suppose to be fun and a hobby but lately it's a chore when your computer's FUCK UP or you can't upload pics! So I'm hoping 2 weeks is enough time to sort out everything. I'm going to miss it but it's for the better!
